- Comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders
- Evaluation and treatment of excessive sleepiness
- Couples studies: Wife and
husband sleep in the same bed at the same time in
our sleep laboratory. This allows us to quantify
each individual's sleep disorder(s) and the degree
to which they interfere with each other's sleep.
- Desensitization therapy for CPAP compliance:
We help our patients through a series of
steps to help them adapt to CPAP use.
- Follow-up management of CPAP therapy
- Evaluation and management of insomnia
- Nocturnal oximetry and sleep studies in hospital, facility, or home (if
covered by insurance)
- Fiberoptic nasopharyngoscopy:
Nasopharyngoscopy is indicated when
visualization of the airway anatomy is necessary
to aid in diagnosis, treatment, or both.
- Treatment of restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movements in sleep
- Treatment of shift work sleep disorders
- Occupational sleep medicine:
An untreated sleep disorder can be hazardous to
drivers and pilots. Treatment translates to
safety and productivity.
- Phototherapy:
Light therapy which strikes the retina of the
eyes is used to treat circadian rhythm disorders
such as delayed sleep phase syndrome and can
also be used to treat seasonal affective
disorder, with some support for its use also
with non-seasonal psychiatric disorders.
- Referral for orthodontic appliances for sleep apnea
- Nocturnal polysomnography
(NPSG): This sleep study allows us to
monitor many aspects of a patient's sleep, such
as heart rate, respiratory rate, leg movements,
and eye movements.
- CPAP titration:
This study allows us to properly set CPAP to
maintain a patient's airway and breathing during
sleep.
- Combined night study (diagnosis and CPAP treatment of sleep apnea)
- Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT):
MSLT is a nap study used to evaluate
patients who are thought to have narcolepsy.
- Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT):
The MWT may
be used to evaluate how well a person with a
sleep disorder is able to stay awake.
- Pediatric sleep medicine (ages 6+)
- Sleep-related research
- Bariatric and peri-operative sleep medicine:
Diagnosis and successful treatment of a
patient's sleep disorder(s) improves surgical
outcomes.
